25-year-old freelance writer, photographer and DIY-er Ava Nirui is taking over social media with her luxury bootleg creations. She remixes some of the world’s most iconic luxury brand logos with sportswear.
Nirui was born in Sydney, Australia, and later moved to New York to pursue a career in fashion. She is an e-commerce director at Assembly New York, a boutique on New York’s Lower East Side. A year ago she and a friend began a “Bootleg Barbie”project where they created imagined outfits for Mattel dolls based on the runway designs of several designers like Hood By Air, Eckhaus Latta and 69. From that moment she became interested in changing normal objects into luxury bootleg creations by putting designer logos on it. She uses Chanel and Dior packing ribbons as shoelaces, bedazzles Nike air force 1’s, inhalers and other objects. She also remixes Champion sweaters and shirts with luxury brands logos like Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Moschino. Making her luxury bootleg creations are simply pure art to the eye.
